In 2008, Riedel Communications won the contract to create the “State Legislative Tool Kit” for the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA).
The Tool Kit contains four major areas: State-by-State This is an analysis of each of the statewide and state issued video franchising laws that have passed since 2005, with charts for key provisions and analysis of detrimental provisions. Legislative Advocacy This section provides guides and tips for visiting local, state and federal legislators, as well as how to draft legislation, sample floor statements and case studies for success. Talking Points & Opposition Research Analysis of the telecommunications industry arguments and the lobbying groups created by the industry as well as talking points and research to wage an effective counter campaign. Media From holding press conferences and events to writing editorials or working with editorialboards, this section provides templates and pointers on how to get media coverage and positive press.
